FAIRBANKS – Michael Citara, the Nanooks' leading scorer this season, has signed his first professional contract with the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals. Norfolk announced the signing on Friday, March 13.
"Since day one, Michael has come in with a great attitude and a willingness to get better," said head coach Erik Largen. "To see all of his hard work pay off is really wonderful. We can't wait to follow along at the start of his pro career."
Citara spent one season with the Nanooks after previous stops at Providence College (2021–23) and Merrimack College (2023–25). Prior to joining Alaska, he totaled 22 career points, including a 15-point campaign at Merrimack in 2023–24 with six goals and nine assists.
In his lone season with the Nanooks, Citara put together a career year. He led the team with 31 points while also pacing the 'Nooks in both goals and assists, finishing with 16 goals and 15 assists.
He also led Alaska with six power-play goals and was the only Nanooks skater to record more than four on the man advantage. Nationally, his six power-play goals ranked 31st, while his 0.94 points per game ranked 62nd and his 0.48 goals per game ranked 38th in NCAA Division I.
Citara added 12 blocked shots on the season and recorded a career-high three points twice—first at Princeton on Nov. 1, 2025, and again at home against Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 28, 2026.
He appeared in 107 career collegiate games, including 33 with the Nanooks this season.
