Nanooks Hockey Announces the Addition of Joseph Serpa

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has announced the addition of Joseph Serpa. Serpa is a forward from Cambridge, Ont. and spent last season with Mercyhurst (NCAA) after two years at Dalhousie University, a member of USports (Canada). 

"Joseph brings experience, skill and a proven ability to create offense," said head coach Erik Largen. "He's produced at a high level, and we believe his hockey sense and playmaking ability will allow him to make an immediate impact for us. We are excited to be part of Joseph's first NCAA appearances. It's been a long road for him, and we're excited to see his work pay off. He will be a tremendous addition to our group." Serpa spent five seasons in the OHL before heading to Dalhousie. His OHL career started in 2018-19 as a member of the Kitchener Rangers; he appeared in nine games and posted one assist. The following season he skated in 50 games and posted 14 points on five goals and nine assists. He had 12 PIM and was a +3 on the ice. He appeared in no games in 2020-21 and then showcased his best season in 2021-22. 

Serpa skated in 62 games during 21-22 and was good for over a point per game. He finished the season with 69 points, scoring 20 goals and adding 49 assists. He had 34 PIM and was a +15. In addition to his strong regular season, he posted 15 postseason points on six goals and nine assists in a dozen playoff games. His final season in the OHL was split between Kitchener and the Oshawa Generals. He played in 25 games for the Rangers, posting 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. He then skated in 38 games for Oshawa and had 14 points on five goals and nine assists. In 184 OHL games he finished with 40 goals scored, 78 assists, and 118 total points. 

He appeared in 30 games in his first season with Dalhousie. Serpa posted 21 points on eight goals and 13 assists. In year two, he played in 21 games and had seven points on four goals and three assists. The following year, he was a junior with the Mercyhurst hockey team but did not appear in a game. 

Joseph Serpa is a 6-1, 170-pound left-handed shot.
