Nanooks Announce Addition of Kyle Powers

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has announced the addition of Kyle Powers. Powers hails from Ottawa, Ont. and spent two full seasons with the Charlottetown Islanders in the QMJHL before spending the majority of 2025-26 with Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL.

"Powers is going to transition to college hockey in a big way," said head coach Erik Largen. "He can skate, check, and play the game hard and heavy. We are looking forward to what he can do in a Nanooks uniform." Powers first joined Charlottetown in 2023-24. He skated in a career-high 67 games in his first year and posted 30 points on seven goals and 23 assists. He added 74 PIM and made an appearance in four playoff games. He tallied one point on an assist. In year two, his production took a jump in less games.

He skated in 61 games in 2024-25 and managed to post 31 points. He nearly doubled his goal scoring, posting 13 goals with 18 assists. He had 86 PIM and was a +7 on the ice. Again, he saw time in four postseason games and posted one point. Powers started 2025-26 with Charlottetown and had one assist in two games before joining the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. There he'd be named the alternate captain and skate in 52 games. He set new career-highs in points and goals scored, finishing with 34 points, 15 goals scored and 19 assists.

After three years in the QMJHL, Powers skated in 182 games and scored 35 goals, added 61 assists, and finished his career with 96 points.

Powers is a 6-1, 192-pound forward and a left-handed shot.
