FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has announced the addition of Zachary Howard. Howard is the final addition for the 2026-27 Nanooks team. The forward joins the 'Nooks after four seasons with the Springfield Jr. Blues in the NAHL. 

"Zach is someone we recruited because of his character, work ethic, and the way he approaches the game every day," said head coach Erik Largen. "He's a great teammate who competes, does things the right way, and will add to the culture of our program." Howard first joined the Blues in 2022-23 and appeared in 10 games. He posted four points on one goal and three assists. 2023-24 was his first full season in the NAHL and he skated in 59 games, scoring 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists. He appeared in just 17 games in 2024-25, scoring seven points on one goal and six assists. 

In his final year with Springfield, he was named the team captain and skated in 59 games, scoring a career-high 49 points. He scored 23 goals and dished out 26 assists. He finished his NAHL career appearing in 145 games, scoring 33 goals with 54 assists for 87 points. 

Howard is a 6-1, 174-pound forward who hails from New Richmond, Wisc. He is a right-handed shot.
