Last Time Out
The Alaska Nanooks are coming off their first series sweep of the season after taking down the LIU Sharks by identical 5–1 scores on Friday and Saturday. Alaska outscored LIU 10–2 on the weekend, marking the most goals the Nanooks have scored in a two-game series this season, topping last weekend's nine-goal effort against Lindenwood. In Friday's opener,
Braden Birnie opened the scoring before
Chase Dafoe and
Carson Reed added goals.
Rylen Roersma and
Cade Ahrenholz rounded out the scoring as the Nanooks cruised to a 5–1 win. Saturday followed a similar script.
Dean Spak netted the first goal of the game — and the first of his career — before
Peyton Platter recorded the game-winner.
Tommy Cronin added his second career goal, while Dafoe and
Alexander Malinowski sealed the sweep with the final two tallies in another 5–1 victory.

- Michael Citara continues to lead the Nanooks in scoring with 21 points in 25 games. The Hobey Baker nominee has 11 goals with 10 assists and 0.84 points per game. He ranks 109th in the country for total points and 121st for points per game.
- He is tied for 50th with 11 goals scored this season. He is averaging 0.44 goals per game, second in the Independent ranks and 56th in NCAA DI.
- Rylen Roersma had a strong month of January, posting 12 points in the month to lead the Nanooks. He now has 18 points on the year with nine goals and nine assists.
- Lassi Lehti currently sits at a 2.42 GAA through 18 games played. That ranks him 28th in the country. He is also tied for 18th in save percentage with a .923.
- Chase Dafoe is at the top of his game on the dot. The Nanooks' captain has 248 wins this year, good for 31st in the nation and second among Independent skaters. He also has three game-winning goals, good for 19th in the nation and second Independently.
- Alaska has jumped in the nation for blocked shots. The Nanooks have blocked 343 shots this season, good for 21st in the nation and second among Independent teams trailing only Alaska Anchorage (350).

What's Next
The Nanooks will end the regular season with six-straight games against Alaska Anchorage. They will face the Seawolves twice in Anchorage (2/6-7 & 2/20-21) before returning to the Carlson Center Feb. 27-28. Following the conclusion of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup the Nanooks will head to St. Louis for the 2026 United Collegiate Hockey Cup.
Gov Cup Standings
The Nanooks currently hold a 4-2 lead in the Alaska Airlines Gov Cup series standings. This season, the standings moved to a point-based scoring system.

Alaska has claimed victory or tied the Seawolves in each of the last six matchups. UAA is looking for it's first win over the Nanooks since Nov. 16, 2024 when they knocked off the Blue and Gold 6-1.
Return to the Sullivan
The Seawolves have returned to Sullivan Arena for this season's Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup games. These are their first games back in the Sullivan since March 2, 2019 when the Nanooks won the cup in Anchorage. That was also the last time the Nanooks played in the Sullivan Arena.
