Desiree Redfox Joins Nanooks Women’s Basketball

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks women's basketball team has announced the addition of Desiree Redfox. Redfox, a 5-6 guard, is an incoming freshman out of Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks.

"We're excited to have Desiree as part of our program," said head coach Michael Ricks. "She's a hard worker who brings great energy every day, and her positive attitude makes her a valuable teammate. Having another player from Alaska in our program is also special, and we're looking forward to the impact she'll make."

Redfox joins the 'Nooks after spending four years at Monroe Catholic, where she won the regional tournament in all four years she played. She earned 15 All-Tournament selections during her high school career, two of which came during the Aurora Conference Regionals.

"I'm so blessed to have this opportunity to continue playing the sport I love," said Redfox. "I want to thank the coaches for welcoming me into the women's basketball program, and my family and friends for always supporting me throughout my basketball journey."

This addition brings the roster size to 17 players. The 'Nooks women's basketball team kicks off its season with an exhibition at Oregon State on Sunday, Nov. 2, before returning home to begin the regular season with the North Star Invitational presented by Mt. McKinley Bank on Nov. 14-16.
