FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks women's basketball program has announced that Chozen Horn-Young has committed to joining the team ahead of the 2025-26 season. Horn-Young, an Oakland, Calif. native, comes to Alaska from the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, Calif., where she spent two seasons.
"We're excited to welcome Chozen to the Nanook family," said head coach Michael Ricks. "She's a dynamic guard who brings energy, toughness, and a fearless mindset to the floor. Her versatility and competitive drive will make her a strong fit for our style of play and a valuable addition to our program."
During Horn-Young's two seasons with the CSM Bulldogs, she averaged 9.7 points per game on 33.4% shooting. In the 2023-24 season, she appeared in 29 contests for the Bulldogs, averaging 18.1 minutes per game. She posted 7.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 31.4% from the field. She added 27 assists and 30 steals on the season. In 2024-25, Horn-Young also appeared in 29 games and started all of them. Her minutes increased to 26.7 per game, and she put up 12.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with a field goal percentage of 34.6%. During her sophomore campaign, she reached double-digit points on 18 occasions, posting 20 or more points three times. On Nov. 1, 2024, vs. Fresno, she notched a career-high 23 points on 8-of-21 shooting. Her 2024-25 season earned her a spot on the Coast Conference North All-Conference Second Team.

Horn-Young is the eighth signing for the Nanooks women's basketball team this summer.
