FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey program has announced their final newcomer for the incoming recruitment class.
Hugo Marcil, a 5-10, 179-pound defenseman rounds out the incoming class for head coach
Erik Largen.
"Hugo is a two-way defenseman who is a great skater, defends hard and has offensive instincts," said Coach Largen. "He's a driven young man who puts in the work and is focused on making an impact." Marcil, a right-handed shot from the blue line, hails from Bourget, Ont. and spent the last three years in the QMJHL, including two seasons with Sherbrooke. His first season in the QMJHL was 2022-23 and spent with the Moncton Wildcats. He skated in 59 games and posted 18 points on four goals and 14 assists. His second and third seasons were spent with the Sherbrooke Phoenix. There he wore the 'A' in both seasons.Â
His first year saw him skate in 65 contests. He tallied a pair of goals while adding 11 assists. His final season was a career year as the defenseman posted 25 points in 62 contests. He scored two goals and had 23 assists. In his three seasons he also appeared in 34 postseason games, posting 11 points on three goals and eight assists.Â
