FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey program has announced the addition of forward
Dylan Sydor to their incoming class. Sydor, a 5-10, 180-pound forward, joins Alaska after four seasons in the WHL and one year at the Univ. of Calgary in USports.
"Dylan is a skilled forward with great vision and playmaking ability," said Nanooks head coach
Erik Largen. "He's a competitor with a team-first mindset and is the type of person who leads by example. Dylan is a true professional in every sense of the word." Sydor, a Kamloops, B.C. native first broke into the WHL in 2020-21 with the Kamloops Blazers. In 15 games he posted one goal and five assists for six points. The following season saw his production increase dramatically as he skated in 63 games while producing 21 points on 10 goals and 11 helpers. He played in a career-high 68 games in 2022-23 and had 28 points on 12 goals and 16 assists. In his final season in the WHL, he skated for two teams; the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Kamloops. With Kamloops, as the assistant captain, he skated in 34 games and had 30 points on 19 goals and 11 assists before spending the remainder of the season with Lethbridge.
In 22 games with the Hurricanes, he scored 10 goals and added five assists. In four seasons, he eclipsed the 200-game mark in the WHL with 202 appearances. In that time he posted 100 career points on 52 goals and 48 assists. He saw time in 35 career playoff games and had nine playoff points. Last year, Sydor spent his freshman season with the Univ. of Calgary in USports and skated in 22 games for the Dinos. He scored seven goals and added six assists while also skating in a pair of postseason games.Â
The right-handed shot is the sixth forward in this year's recruiting class. Sydor intends on studying business administration.Â
