FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has announced the signing of defenseman Linden Burrett. Burrett, a Surrey, B.C. native, will be a freshman this fall with the Blue and Gold. He has spent the previous five seasons in the WHL and BCHL. 

"Linden is a smooth, intelligent defenseman who impacts the game in every situation," said head coach Erik Largen. "He skates well, makes smart decisions with the puck, and competes at a high level. His hockey IQ and consistency will make him an important piece of our defensive group." Burrett first broke into the BCHL in 2021-22 with the Surrey Eagles, making one appearance. The next season, he'd make one appearance with the Eagles again. In 2023-24 his playing time jumped while skating for the Vernon Vipers. In 36 games, he posted five points on one goal and four assists. 

During 2024-25, Burrett made the jump from the BCHL to the WHL. After posting nine points on three goals and six assists in 15 games with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, he moved to the Calgary Hitmen for nine games before playing for the Prince Albert Raiders. In his nine games with the Hitmen he posted one point on an assist. He then posted five points on one goal and four helpers with the Raiders. 

2025-26 was a career year for Burrett in all major categories. He skated in 64 games for Prince Albert while scoring a career-high eight goals and dishing a career best 27 assists for 35 points. He added 70 PIM and a +57 plus/minus. He added seven postseason points on one goal and six assists in 20 playoff games. 

Burrett is 6-2, 183 pounds, and a right-handed shot from the blue line. 

Additional signings will be announced in the coming days and weeks for the Alaska Nanooks hockey team as they prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
