FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey program has announced the signing of Rylen Roersma. Roersma, a 5'11, 190-pound forward, has spent the past five seasons in the WHL, most recently with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
"We are so excited to add Rylen to our program," said Nanooks head coach
Erik Largen. "First off, he is a tremendous individual who will fit right into our program. We believe he adds tremendous pace and energy to our lineup. He is someone who is going to have an immediate impact on our lineup right away." Roersma first joined the WHL in 2020-21 with the Brandon Wheat Kings. In his first season, he appeared in 17 games, scoring two points. The next three seasons saw Roersma produce career numbers each year. Over the next three seasons in 197 games, he posted 123 points on 58 goals and 65 assists, including a career-high 58 points on 20 goals and 38 helpers in 2023-24. That same year, he was named alternate captain of the Wheat Kings.
This year, he appeared in one game for Brandon before making the move to Edmonton and joining the Oil Kings. During the 2024-25 season, he skated in 57 games, posting 29 points on 11 goals and 18 assists. Edmonton made the Eastern Conference playoffs as the No. 7 seed, but fell to Prince Albert; Roersma posted four points with one goal and three assists in the postseason this year.
The left-handed shot hails from Lethbridge, Alta.
The Nanooks will continue to announce signings throughout the coming weeks.
