OXFORD, Miss. – The Nanooks rifle team (3-0, 3-0 PRC) picked up its third win of the season on Saturday, taking down the Ole Miss Rebels (2-1, 1-1 PRC) 4716-4709 on the road.
Despite the Rebels taking the top three spots in the aggregate standings, the Nanooks showed their depth, locking out the fourth through 10th place finishes in aggregate scores. Amanda Pettersen led the way for the Nanooks in fourth place with an 1179-79x, just beating out Marshall Schmidt, who posted an 1179-78x. Lucie Kissenberger posted the sixth-highest aggregate score with an 1175-77x, while Noah Meierotto and Julianna Hays followed in seventh and eighth with scores of 1174-75x and 1174-67x, respectively. Teagan Perkowski (1173-72x) and Tobias Bernhoft-Osa (1170-72x) completed the top 10 aggregate scores in the match.
In smallbore, Alaska took the win by one point, outshooting Ole Miss 2340-2339. Pettersen tied Ole Miss' Regan Diamond for the top score in the discipline, with both posting a 590 with 35 centers. Schmidt followed in third, firing a 588-31x. Kissenberger was the next-highest finisher in the discipline for the Nanooks, firing a 582-32x which put her sixth. Hays matched her 582 while tallying 26 centers to take seventh, and Meierotto posted a 580-28x, good for eighth. Perkowski (ninth, 579-28x) and Bernhoft-Osa (12th, 575-24x) rounded things out for the 'Nooks.
In air rifle, the Nanooks outshot the Rebels 2376-2370. Bernhoft-Osa fired the highest score for Alaska in the discipline, posting a 595-48x to take second. Meierotto and Perkowski both shot a 594, with Meierotto posting 47 centers and Perkowski tallying 44. Kissenberger and Ole Miss' Jordan de Jesus tied for fifth after firing a 593-45x, and Hays' 592-41x put her eighth. Schmidt (10th, 591-47x) and Pettersen (13th, 589-44x) were the final two Nanook finishers in the discipline.
The Nanooks are back in action on Sunday morning against UT Martin, beginning at 6 a.m. AKST.
