Last Time Out
The Nanooks are back in action after a pair of ties at Quinnipiac and an exhibition tie against Simon Fraser. Alaska has been off for two weeks
First to 10
Newcomer
Michael Citara is the first Nanooks skater to 10 points this season. He's averaging 1.00 point per game through the first 11 games with four goals and seven assists.
He ranks 59th in the NCAA Division I and is sixth among Independent skaters with 1.00 points per game.
Freshman Leaders
- Rylen Roersma leads the rookie class with three points this season. Three freshmen follow with a pair of points.
- Misha Danylov now has two points on one goal and one assist. William Fleet has two points on a pair of assists and Davis Borozinskis has one goal and one assist for two points.
Slick Rick with the Puck
- Nathan Rickey leads the Nanooks blue line with seven points. He is currently second on the team with seven points on a goal and six assists.
- He is the only defenseman with more than two points. Three (Barlage, Cardona, Fleet) follow with two points each.
- Rickey has three points in his last two games, including a two-point performance at Princeton on Nov. 1, his second multi-point performance this season.
Simply Spak-tacular
Dean Spak has four points in his last four games. He was riding a three-game scoring streak from 10-18 to 10/31 with four points in three games. Spak has four points in seven games for 0.67 points per game. His four points is fifth on the team.
Man-Advantage
Chase Dafoe has continued his reign in front of the net while on the man-advantage. The center, and captain of the Nanooks has three power-play goals this season. That total not only leads the Nanooks, but puts him 25th in the nation and second in the Independent ranks. He has four goals on the year, he's tied with Michael Citara for the team lead.
Quick to the Draw
Chase Dafoe enters this week with the 39th most faceoff wins in the nation. He currently has 123 faceoff victories, second among Independent skaters.
Put it on a Platter
Peyton Platter has caught his stride after scoring his first point on Oct. 17 against Michigan Tech. Since that game, the sophomore forward has six points in seven games, including a pair of points on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Princeton.
He has three points on two goals and an assist in his last two games. He scored the game-tying goal at Quinnipiac on Nov. 4 to force OT.
Multi-point Games
The Nanooks have eight multi-point performances this season. Michael Citara (2) and Nathan Rickey (2) lead Alaska. Chase Dafoe, Alexander Malinowski, Peyton Platter, and Dean Spak all have one this season.
Let's Meet the Saints
- St. Lawrence comes into Friday's matchup on a five-game losing streak.
- They are 1-5-0 in ECAC play with their lone win coming on Nov. 7 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (4-3). Following this win, they have lost their next five.
- They fell to Union (2-5) on Nov. 8, Dartmouth (1-6) on Nov. 14, Harvard (3-4) on Nov. 15, Princeton (4-7) on Nov. 21, and Quinnipiac (2-4) on Nov. 22.
- Bren Brekke was named head coach on May 25, 2019 becoming the 15th head coach in program history.
- The Saints are led by Tyler Cristall. He has a team-high 14 points, seven goals, and seven assists. Cooper Pierson also has seven assists and is tied for second in scoring with eight points.
- Cayden Casey and Filip Juricek also have eight points each.
- Mason Kucenski has seen the most time in net for SLU (653:53 minutes). He has a GAA of 3.76 and .885 save percentage in 11 games played (2-8-1).
What's Coming Up
- This kicks off the final few weeks of 2025 for the Nanooks. Alaska will play two games at the 2025 Adirondack Winter Invitational before hosting Grand Canyon next week for their final home game of the calendar year.
- The Nanooks will then head to Union on Dec. 12-13 before the holiday break. They played at Union last season and went 1-0-1.
- Alaska opens up the new year at Providence on Jan. 2-3, their first trip to Providence since the 1993-94 season.
Rest of the Field
Clarkson Golden Knights - Clarkson comes into this week 4-10, 1-5-0 ECAC. They are on a five-game slide and will face the Nanooks on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 3:30 p.m. AKST. They will face UMass-Lowell on Friday at 3:30 p.m. AKST.
UMass-Lowell River Hawks - The Nanooks will not face UMass-Lowell, but the River Hawks round out the field as the fourth team in the Winter Invitational. UMass-Lowell faces Clarkson on Friday and St. Lawrence on Saturday; the River Hawks are 5-7-0, 3-3-0 Hockey East on the year.
