PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced their 2024 GNAC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, presented by Barnes and Noble College on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The Nanooks had five student-athletes named to the team and saw
Destiny Reimers boast one of the four 4.00 GPA's in the GNAC.

Not only did Destiny Reimers lead the way with her 4.00 GPA in rural development studies, but she earned her third honor for the GNAC All-Academic Team. The junior from Anchorage has earned this honor in 2021-22, 2022-23 and now adds 2023-24 to her list of accolades. This season, she is averaging 10.5 points per game while shooting 39.7% from the floor and grabbing 4.6 rebounds per game. The next four Nanooks on the All-Academic Team are first-time award winners. Sophomore Kayla Johnson earned her first-career GNAC All-Academic honor with a 3.83 GPA while studying psychology. Johnson, a Federal Way, Wash.-native, is averaging 10.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. She's adding a team-high 44.2% clip from the floor and a team-high 23 steals. Emma McKenney earned her first All-Academic honor with a 3.97 GPA while studying sport and recreation business. The sharp-shooter for the Nanooks is averaging 10.8 points per game to lead Alaska. The guard from Springfield, Ore. is shooting 33.9% from the field, 31.4% from deep and 85.3% from the free-throw line. She has also dished out a team-high 59 assits through 21 games.
Jayda Van Dyke and Emma Wass rounded out the list of Nanooks on the 2024 GNAC All-Academic Team. Van Dyke and Wass both earned their first All-Academic honors. Van Dyke, a junior from Herriman, Utah, is studying business administration and has maintained a 3.88 in her time with the Nanooks. This season, Van Dyke has played in all 21 games. She's averaging 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. She's added a ton of defensive value to the 'Nooks as she's second on the team with 16 total steals. She's also dished out 21 assists and blocked three shots. Finally, Emma Wass, a senior from Manhattan, Mont. makes her first appearance on the All-Academic list with a 3.43 GPA while studying sport and recreation business. Wass has been one of the best rebounders, not only on the Nanooks, but in the conference and the country. She leads the Nanooks with 9.5 boards per game, adding 8.6 points per game. She is shooting 42.9% from the floor, has 27 assists, 13 steals and eight blocks to her name through 21 games.
The Nanooks return to action this Saturday at home at 3:00 p.m. against the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves.
