FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks women's basketball team has announced the addition of Brandi Stanford. Stanford is a 5-6 point guard from Lacey, Wash., and joins the Nanooks from River Ridge High School.
"We're very excited to add a player of Brandi's caliber to our program," said head coach Michael Ricks. "She's a dynamic athlete who can impact the game in so many ways. She's an aggressive defender, creates offense for herself and others, and plays with a level of toughness and competitiveness that we value."
Stanford averaged 20 points, six assists and six steals per game at River Ridge, totaling 1,965 points over her high school career. She earned South Sound Conference First Team All-League all four years and was a three-time Defensive All-League selection. She also played DODEA European Basketball, where she earned Rookie of the Year honors, along with All-League MVP, and was a DODEA European Champion.
"I'm excited and blessed to join the Nanook family," said Stanford. "I'm ready to make some noise."
Stanford is Alaska's third signing for the 2026-27 season. Additional signings will follow throughout the coming months.
