Indigenous People's Day
The Nanooks women's basketball team will be celebrating Indigenous People's Day on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they welcome the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks to Fairbanks. Alaska will be wearing shirts that recognize Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). There will also be a limited amount for sale in the Patty Center lobby throughout the day, get there early. We'd like to thank BBNC and Doyon for helping the women's basketball team receive these shirts. All proceeds from shirt sales will go to an MMIW charity.Â
Last Time Out
The Nanooks are coming off of a hard-fought game against Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 10. After taking a three-point lead at halftime, the Seawolves used a big third quarter to grab the lead. Alaska won the battle in the fourth but could not overcome the deficit late. They had a few good looks down the stretch in the final minute but UAA escaped with the 78-75 win.Â
