FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks hockey team has added another signing after yesterday's signing day. Jackson Anderson, a blueliner for the Surrey Eagles (BCHL) is set to call Fairbanks home next year.
"Jackson is a complete defenseman with a great combination of size, skill, and hockey sense." Head coach
Erik Largen said. "He's got a strong physical presence but is also very composed with the puck. We're excited to have him join the team, as he can contribute in all situations and will be a key part of our defensive core."
Anderson is a 6-2, 170-pound defenseman who hails from Prior Lake, Minn., and is a right-handed shot. He currently captains the Surrey Eagles in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and is in his first season in the BCHL after two years in the NAHL with the Aberdeen Wings. During his time in the NAHL, he skated in 86 games, scoring nine goals and assisting on 31 for 40 points (0.47/game). His best year came in 2023-24 and came with 14 fewer appearances than in 2022-23. In 36 games he posted 21 points with five goals and 16 assists. This year with the Surrey Eagles, he has skated in 17 games and has 13 points on four goals and nine helpers. He is poised to make this his best year in juniors.
