FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks swim team competed in an 11-event dual-meet with Cal State East Bay on Saturday, Oct. 28. In the end, the Nanooks fell to the Pioneers 146-59.Â
The first event of the morning meet was the 200-yard medley relay. Alaska claimed a second-place finish as the team of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Dorka Dancsok,
Adeline Berry and
Lainey Lioi raced to a 1:51.17 finish. They followed the winning time of 1:49.42 closely and earned four points for the 'Nooks. The other Alaska team finished fifth in the relay. In the secodn event, the Nanooks finished third, fourth and fifth with
Tori Shoemaker leading the way. She took third with a time of 11:09.74 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Payton Wojciechowicz and
Shannon McCallum followed in fourth and fifth.Â
Lainey Lioi finished in the top-three with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The Nanook finished in 2:06.68.
Kaidence Sampsel followed in fifth and
Mesa Moran took sixth.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables swam to a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, racing to a time of 25.98, taking second by less than a second as East Bay posted a winning time of 25.22.
Adeline Berry followed in fifth and
Meah McCallum took sixth.
Dorka Dancsok won the 400-yard IM by nearly six seconds, claiming nine points for Alaska. She won the with a time of 4:32.18, the second-place racer for East Bay finished in 4:38.00.
Naomi Burgan followed in fourth-place, earning two points for Alaska and
Lori Houghton took sixth. In the 200-yard butterfly
Adeline Berry led Alaska with a time of 2:29.72, earning a pair of points for the 'Nooks.
Mesa Moran followed in fifth, earning a point. Alaska took fourth, fifth and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with
Lainey Lioi posting a time of 56.92; she was the lone Alaska swimmer to crack the sub-minute mark.
Sophia Ruppert followed in fifth and
Tori Shoemaker finished in sixth.Â
The eighth event was the 200-yard backstroke. Fletcher-Stables grabbed another second-place finish with a time of 2:10.93 to lead Alaska.
Shannon McCallum followed in fifth and
Kaidence Sampsel took sixth.
Payton Wojciechowicz led the way in the 500-yard freestyle for Alaska, taking fourth with a time of 5:40.67.
Lori Houghton followed in fifth and
Meah McCallum took sixth.
Dorka Dancsok returned to first in the 200-yard breaststroke, winning by nearly three seconds. She posted a winning time of 2:27.51, earning nine points for the 'Nooks.
Naomi Burgan gained two points for Alaska with a fourth-place finish and
Kylee Carter rounded out the individual finishes with a sixth-place finish.Â
The final event of the morning was the 200-yard freestyle relay. Alaska took second with a time of 1:42.80. That team was made up of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Lainey Lioi,
Adeline Berry and
Dorka Dancsok. The other finishing Nanooks relay team finished in fifth.Â
Alaska returns to action on Dec. 1-3 at the Logger Invitational in Tacoma, Wash.Â
