FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks swimming team is back in the Patty Center Pool this weekend for two more dual meets, this time taking on the Simon Fraser Red Leafs on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Last Time Out
The 'Nooks held their home opener last weekend, taking on the Puget Sound Loggers in dual meets on Friday and Saturday. The 'Nooks won 20 out of 22 events over the two meets, earning victories of 141-63 and 128-75.
Dorka Dancsok tallied a team-high four individual wins over the weekend, claiming first in the 100-yard butterfly (59.52), 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.96), 400-yard IM (4:32.31) and 200-yard backstroke (2:09.66).

	- The 'Nooks have two swimmers ranked in the top 20 nationally for their respective events. Kitti Marton holds the 16th-best time in Division II in the 1650-yard freestyle, posting an 18:23.05 vs. Fresno Pacific, and Dorka Dancsok's 4:32.31 in the 400-yard IM puts her 18th in the nation, with the time set in the meet vs. Puget Sound. Those two times rank fourth and third in the PCSC, respectively.
- Talia Wentz sits 10th and eighth in the PCSC in the 50 (24.88) and 100-yard freestyle (54.00), with both times set vs. Puget Sound.
- McKenzie Fazio ranks seventh in the conference in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:55.96, also set vs. Puget Sound.
- In addition to her 1650-yard freestyle time, Marton also ranks ninth in the PCSC in the 1000-yard freestyle, posting an 11:04.36 in the event vs. the Loggers.
- The Nanooks have two top-10 PCSC times in the 200-yard backstroke, with Dancsok (2:09.66) and Fazio (2:13.71) sitting sixth and ninth in the conference.
- Additionally, Dancsok is top 10 in the conference in the 50 (31.20, third), 100 (1:06.96, fourth) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.13, eighth), the 100-yard butterfly (59.52, tenth) and the 200-yard IM (2:13.50, eighth).
- Macy Ahrens is ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:29.63.
- The 'Nooks hold the fourth-best PCSC time in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:39.64 and the sixth-best time in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a 3:44.85.
- Their time of 4:03.65 puts them fifth in the conference in the 400-yard medley relay.
Meet the Opponent
Simon Fraser Red Leafs
Head Coach: Demone Tissira, 5th Season
	- The Red Leafs enter the meet with a 1-3 record in duals so far this season. They dropped both their meets vs. Biola by final scores of 106-64 and 86-62. They beat Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 127-78 but fell to California San Diego 114-83 in a double-dual on Oct. 18.
- The 'Nooks and Red Leafs swam together at the Logger Invitational last season, with SFU placing first with 1,118 points and Alaska placing second with 992 points.
- They finished second in the RMAC Championships last season with 1,194 points, trailing the champions, Colorado Mesa, who accumulated 1,939 points at the conference championships.
- They placed seventh at the NCAA Championships in 2024-25 with 211 points.
- This will be the first time the Nanooks and Red Leafs face each other in dual meet action since the 2012-13 season.
Looking Ahead
The Nanooks are off until Friday, Nov. 21, when they return for day one of the Vandal Invite at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center in Boise, Idaho, beginning their invitational schedule. The 'Nooks will not return to the Patty Center Pool until Jan. 16, as they close out the 2025 portion of their schedule with the Vandal Invite (Nov. 21-23) and UNLV Invite (Dec. 15-17).
