Box Score ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell in game two of their trip to Anchorage and in game two in their quest to claim the Governor's Cup for the eleventh straight year. The Nanooks dropped the road-game on Oct. 26 by a score of 0-4, dropping their record to 4-4-0, 3-1-0-0 WCHA.

The first period saw a lot of one-sided attack. Although a scoreless first, the Nanooks outshot the Seawolves 10-4 after one. Both teams had opportunities, however. Alaska in the final five minutes had three chances right in front of the net, but So., G, Kristian Stead of UAA kept the door closed. Sr., G, Anton Martinsson did the same right back for the 'Nooks, stopping all four shots sent on net, one of which was a 2-on-1 breakaway that Martinsson was able to break up. The two teams would go into the first intermission scoreless.

The second period spelled trouble for the Nanooks. 8:58 into the second period, Nick Wicks took a pass from Eric Sinclair and Rylee St. Onge on the power play and sent it past Martinsson to make it 0-1 UAA. Five minutes later the Seawolves struck again, this time Tanner Schachle, who grabbed a goal off of assists from Taylor Lantz and Tomi Hiekkavirta. Anchorage was not done there. Nick Wicks struck again just three minutes later, capitalizing off of the Hiekkavirta – St. Onge connection, giving them their second assists on the game and Wicks his second goal of the game. The Seawolves flipped the script from the first period, outshooting the Nanooks 7-15 in the second.

The third period remained 0-3 UAA until the midway point when Alex Frye snuck one through the legs of Martinsson on a breakaway chance, extending the lead to four for the Seawolves. Despite the four goal deficit, Alaska did not shy away from the attack, outshooting Anchorage 12-6 in the final 20 minutes, with 4 close opportunities coming in the final minute of play, however, nothing found the back of the net for the
Nanooks as Stead stopped all 29 shots sent his way from the Alaska attackers.

With this loss, the 2019 Governor's Cup series is tied at 1-1 and will be decided in Fairbanks on Feb. 28-29. The Nanooks will be back in action this upcoming weekend at home when Bemidji State visits the Carlson Center on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. Both games are scheduled for a 7:07 p.m. AKT puck drop.
