FAIRBANKS - The No. 4-ranked Nanooks rifle team opened up their 2025-26 season victorious in their home range on Friday, Oct. 17. They welcomed the No. 12-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and defeated them 4722-4714.
The Nanooks had eight athletes compete while OSU had seven. In smallbore, Ohio State took the win in the discipline, outshooting Alaska by one point: 2341-2340.
Julianna Hays led the way with a 591-33x, the only athlete today to break 590 in smallbore. Lillian Warren of Ohio State followed with a 589-35x in second.
Noah Meierotto took third with a 589-32x in her debut for the Nanooks.
Lucie Kissenberger was the final Nanooks shooter in the top five, taking fifth with a 585-27x.
Teagan Perkowski took seventh, firing a 584-30x.
Amanda Pettersen cracked the top 10 in smallbore with a 582-33x.
Sadie Palfrey (11th),
Marshall Schmidt (13th), and
Tobias Bernhoft-Osa (15th) rounded out the smallbore standings for the Nanooks.
In air rifle, the Nanooks won the discipline by nine points, 2382-2373, and ultimately won the match behind their air rifle performance. In air, Perkowski led the way firing a 598-57x, a new career high for the sophomore. Kissenberger followed in second, firing a 597-51x. Ohio State claimed the third and fourth place finishes in the discipline.
Tobias Bernhoft-Osa took fifth, firing a 594-48x. Hays followed with a 593-43x, and Meierotto took seventh in air with a 592-44x.
Sadie Palfrey and
Marshall Schmidt rounded out the top 10 with Palfrey taking ninth with a 590-41x and Schmidt posting a 589-41x for a 10th-place finish. In the overall aggregate standings,
Julianna Hays showed up in her Nanooks debut, grabbing first place with an aggregate score of 1184-76x.
Teagan Perkowski followed with an 1182-87x aggregate.
Lucie Kissenberger and
Noah Meierotto finished third and fourth with Kissenberger finishing third with an 1182-78x and Meierotto posting an 1181-76x in her collegiate debut.
Palfrey took 10th in the individual standings, posting an 1171-61x in her first match as a Nanook. Today's win was career-win number one for
Randi Loudin after Loudin was elevated to head coach this past offseason. She'll go for win number two tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at TVSA as these two teams square off once again.
