ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Nanooks cross country teams raced at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday morning. The women's team finished 22nd while the men's team finished 28th.
The women's race was at 6:45 a.m. AKST and the Nanooks were led by
Lucca Duke. Duke posted a top-30 finish, taking 28th place with a time of 22:08.37 for 27 points.
Tabitha Williams followed right behind Duke, finishing 30th with a time of 22:11.59, earning 29 points for the Nanooks. The first personal best time posted today came from
Riga Grubis in the women's race as the junior raced to a 101st-place finish with a new best time of 23:05.55. That finish earned the Nanooks 99 points.
Teegan Silva and
Rory Claussen were the final scoring finishers for Alaska. Silva finished 248th in 24:57.61, earning 203 points. Claussen was just 10 seconds behind her teammate, taking 261st in 25:07.65.
Victoria Myers (284th, 25:44.83),
Madison Schuh (292nd, 26:02.49), and
Devyn Townsend (296th, 26:08.53) were the final racers to finish for the Nanooks on Saturday.
Chico State won the women's race with 100 points. Alaska placed fourth amongst GNAC schools at the Lewis Crossover; Western Washington took sixth, Alaska Anchorage took ninth, Northwest Nazarene took 19th, and Alaska finished 22nd. The men's race followed at 7:30 a.m. AKST.
Dexter Delaney led the Nanooks men's team again, cracking the top-50 today. He finished 49th with a time of 24:50.86. That earned the Nanooks 49 points.
Ian Baker was the second finishing racer for the men's team, earning 106 points while placing 108th. Baker crossed the finish line in 25:30.57.
Blake Hanley was the third racer to finish for Alaska, placing 228th in 26:25.73.
Finn Morley and
Nick Iverson were the final two scoring racers in the men's race for Alaska.
Finn Morley finished 244th in 26:34.90 for 206 points and Iverson finished 263rd (26:45.72) for 215 points.
Ned Peters posted the second new personal best time for the Nanooks, posting a time of 2735.67 and taking 312th. Following him at 324th was
Brady Benedict, who finished in 27:53.58, and
Clem Taylor-Roth in 325th, who finished in 2754.26.
Colorado Christian won the men's race with 106 points. Western Washington was the top finishing GNAC team, taking third. Northwest Nazarene took eighth, and Alaska Anchorage took ninth.
The Nanooks turn their attention to the GNAC Championships in two weeks at Montana State Billings and Amend Park.
