Appeared in five races for the Nanooks in her first season of competition ... Began her career at the Seawolf Throwdown in Anchorage with a 10th-place finish and 6k time of 24:31.0 ... The following week she finished 11th at the Blue & Gold Race in Fairbanks with a time of 25:15.0 ... At the midway point of the season, she placed 262nd at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill. behind a 25:07.7 time ... Her season continued into the postseason for the Nanooks and she posted back-to-back 6k personal-best times ... At the GNAC Championships she raced to a 62nd-place finish behind a 6k time of 24:12.4 ... Two weeks later she bested that time with a 23:43.0 showing at the NCAA DII West Regional Championships ... Claussen ran at Eldorado High School in New Mexico. There she she was a sixth-place New Mexico Girls Cross Country 5A State finisher (19:50.23), and then a 12th-place finisher at the 2021 Championships (20:59.00). She graduated 12th in her high school class and was a National Merit Finalist.
