Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup
The Alaska Nanooks and Alaska Anchorage Seawolves are set for the final three games of the 2024-25 Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup. UAA currently holds a 2-1 lead following the third game in Anchorage on Jan. 18. Officially, the game went down in the record as a 3-3 OTT/SOL. Games one and two were played Nov. 15-16 in Anchorage and ended in a split with a 3-2 OT win and a game two loss.
Stats Leaders
Kyle Gaffney leads the Nanooks with 16 points on six goals and a team-leading 10 assists. The alternate captain also leads the way with 184 face-off victories this season. He's won .492 percent of draws in 2024-25. Matt Hubbarde and Broten Sabo follow behind with 15 points each. Hubbarde is the team-leader in goals scored, picking up eight through 21 games played. He is currently on a four-game goal scoring streak, tallying a goal at Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 4, Alaska Anchorage on Jan. 18, and in both UMass games on Jan. 24-25. Sabo is the leading scorer on the blue-line, and is the lone defenseman with six-plus (6+) points. Brendan Ross is the leading scorer among rookies with 13 points and is tied with Gaffney with 10 assists to pace the team.
Nicholas Grabko has appeared in 18 games this season (1068:25 minutes). He holds a 2.75 GAA and a .900 save percentage this year. He is 5-9-4-1 in net. Lassi Lehti has appeared in six games this year and holds a 2-2-1-0 record while saving .916 percent of shots. He has a 2.30 GAA on the year. Cole Plowman has made one appearance this season.
Last Time Out
The Nanooks fell in a pair of games at the University of Massachusetts on Jan. 24-25. In game one, UMass made a third-period comeback after the Nanooks took a 2-1 lead into the final 20 minutes. Broten Sabo needed only 2:15 to pick up goal one in the first period. Caelum Dick and Brendan Ross picked up the assists on Sabo's goal. 15 minutes later, Matt Hubbarde made it 2-1 Nanooks with a redirect off of a Kyle Gaffney pass. Unfortunately, the Minutemen put three on the board in the third after a scoreless second to take the 4-2 victory. In game two, the Nanooks played from behind after UMass picked up two in the opening 4:10. Matt Hubbarde got the Nanooks on the board and within one before the Minutemen made it 3-1. Only 19 seconds into the second, Chase Dafoe pulled Alaska to within one again, but UMass grew their lead and put the Nanooks away. Chase Dafoe picked up another goal 12:47 into the third.
What's to Come
Alaska is in town this weekend and next for their final three home games of the season. All games are part of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup and next Saturday, Feb. 8 will feature the trophy presentation. Pregame, the Nanooks will celebrate their seniors with Senior Day. After next weekend, the Nanooks will end the season on the road with trips to Lindenwood (St. Louis, Mo.), Augustana (Sioux Falls, SD), and LIU (Long Island, NY).

Meet the Opponents - UAA
The Seawolves enter this weekend's two-game series with a 5-17-4 record. They are led by Dimitry Kebreau, who through 25 games, has a team-high 18 points. His 12 assists is a team-lead. Ryan Johnson followed with 15 points and a team-leading 10 goals. Greg Orosz has seen the most time in net this season for the Seawolves. He has appeared in 18 games and holds a 4-10-2-0 record with a 3.27 GAA and .881 save percentage. Tyler Krivtsov follows with 12 appearances this year. He has a 1-7-2-0 record with an .891 save percentage and 3.02 GAA.
