FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks women's basketball team has announced the addition of Grace Gillespie to their 2024-25 roster.
Gillespie, a 5'8" guard will join Alaska from Houston High School in Houston, Alaska. "We're excited to welcome Grace to our team as a preferred walk-on." Said head coach
Amy Donovan, "Both of Grace's parents played basketball for the Nanooks, and adding a legacy player like that is always fun! Grace has proven herself to be hard-working, a great teammate, and a leader both on and off the floor. She was the leading scorer for the Alaskan team during the Arctic Games this year, and we're excited to see what she can do when she joins the Blue and Gold!"
This year for Houston High School, Gillespie averaged 10.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 36.6% from the floor. She helped her team to an 8-15, 3-6 conference record, finishing third in the 3A Eastern conference.
Alongside basketball, Gillespie plays for the Houston volleyball and soccer teams.
Additional newcomers will be announced in the coming weeks.
