Nanooks Hockey Grabs Signing from WHL's Beau Courtney

The forward will join the Nanooks after four years with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League.

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has officially signed forward Beau Courtney.

"Beau is a tremendous talent, and having someone with WHL experience is a big win for our program." Head coach Erik Largen said, "He's used to the high-level competition, and his maturity and skill set will help him make an immediate impact on our team. We're excited to see how he will fit into our culture and contribute on both ends of the rink." 

Courtney is a 5-10 forward who weighs in at 179 pounds. The right-handed shot hails from Parker, Colo. and is in his fourth season with the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was awarded the "Alternate Captain" title this season and through 18 games he has tallied seven points on four goals and three assists. Last year was a career year for Courtney as he posted 32 points in 66 games. He lit the lamp 17 times while posting 15 helpers. In nine WHL postseason games last year, he added two goals and an assist for three points. 

Throughout his four seasons with Everett and in the WHL, he has skated in 185 games, scored 33 goals and assisted on 32 for 65 points and 0.35 points per game. He also has 82 career penalty minutes. 

Beau Courtney is the first signee for the Alaska Nanooks this year. Additional signees will be announced throughout the season.
