FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will host Multnomah Lions this week, continuing their 2022-23 campaign. The 'Nooks enter this week fresh off the opening two games of conference play.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks are fresh off their first two conference games of the season against the Montana State Billings Yellow Jackets and the Seattle Pacific Falcons. The 'Nooks would fall to both GNAC opponents, losing 67-61 to MSUB and 65-60 to SPU, respectively.
Emma Wass came up big against the Yellow Jackets, posting her first career double-double with 10 points, and 12 rebounds while adding three blocks as well.
Paola Perez-Mendoza came up big in both games, filling the stat sheet against MSUB with eight points, three rebounds, six assists, one steal and a block before coming out with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists against the Falcons.
Ellen Silva joined Perez-Menodza in success against SPU, adding eight points, seven rebounds, three steals and a block.

- Through seven games, Emma McKenney leads the 'Nooks in scoring with 14.6 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the floor, 53.6% from three and 83.3% from the free-throw line.
- She is second in the GNAC for three-point percentage and tied for second in threes made. She's tied for second in the conference in three-pointers made per game, averaging 3 made threes a game.
- Ellen Silva is nearly averaging a double-double. She's averaging 10.7 points per game while grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting 55.6% from the floor, good for second in the GNAC.
- Her 8.1 rebounds per game are sixth in the GNAC. She's second in the conference in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 3.6 per game.
- Kayla Johnson joins Silva in attacking the glass, adding 7.4 rebounds per game, good for tenth in the GNAC. Johnson is also adding 3.3 offensive boards per game, good for fourth. In addition to her rebounding prowess, Johnson is fourth on the team in scoring with 11.1.
- Destiny Reimers is second in scoring for the Nanooks, averaging 13.8 points per game.
- The 'Nooks are fifth in the GNAC in both field goal percentage and opposing field goal percentage, at 41% and 37% respectively.
- Alaska is fourth in the GNAC in rebounds.
Meet the Opponents
Multnomah Lions (3-4, 1-2 CCC)
Multnomah is coming off two straight losses to continue their conference play, losing to Bushnell and Corban, 85-55 and 76-71.
Multnomah is led by Shaila Mays in the scoring category as she's posted 123 points in seven games, all starts, as she averages 17.6 points per game. Three other Lions join Mays averaging double digits per game.
Mays leads the way with a 54.7 shooting percentage from the floor and total made threes. Alaygza Portis is the team leader in rebounds, grabbing 8.3 boards a game. Mays leads the team in steals, averaging 2.1 per game.
What's to Come
After their matchups against Multnomah, the Nanooks will be off for a few weeks before picking their season back-up on Dec. 29 at Simon Fraser before heading to Western Washington to bring in the new year on Dec. 31.
