Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Alaska Nanooks notched their first overtime victory of the season on Saturday, beating the Bemidji State Beavers 2-1 at the Sanford Center. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association win improves the Nanooks to 5-15-2 overall and 5-10-1-1 in the WCHA, while the Beavers drop to 10-11-3 and 8-7-1-1 in league play.
The victory puts Alaska in seventh place in the WCHA, with 17 points in 16 conference games. BSU is in sixth place, with 25 points in 16 league contests.
Sophomore forward
Justin Young scored through traffic just 52 seconds into overtime, giving the Nanooks their second road victory of the season.
James LaDouce and
Steven Jandric assisted on the winner.

Anton Martinsson had blanked the Beavers until 17:51 of the third period, when BSU forward Justin Baudry fired in a power-play goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Nanooks opened the scoring at 7:44 of the first period off senior forward

Martinsson finished the game with 29 stops and a .967 save percentage. His BSU counterpart, Zach Driscoll, made 25 saves.

Nikolas Koberstein missed the game while serving a one-game suspension for a major penalty and game misconduct late in Friday's game against BSU.
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team will return home next weekend for a Jan. 18-19 series against Bowling Green State University. Puck-drop is scheduled at 7:07 p.m. for both games.
