Hockey Upsets No. 11 Boston College on the Road

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Nanooks hockey team defeated No. 11 Boston College on Friday, Oct. 9. The 3-2 win gives Alaska their first victory of the 2026-27 season and improves them to 1-2-0.

Boston College struck first in the opening 20 minutes. After the Nanooks were whistled for a hook only 16 seconds into the game, BC scored 1:59 into the first. Teddy Stiga tallied the opener on the man-advantage while Will Vote earned the primary and Carson Woodall picked up the secondary. Over 15 minutes later, the Nanooks found the equalizer. Sam Elliott scored his first-career goal 17:56 into the first redirecting an airborne puck that was initially redirected by Jack Rogers. William Fleet fired a shot from the point before Rogers attempt giving Rogers the primary assist and Fleet the secondary.

Neither side scored in the second period. Alaska had six shots on goal in the second while BC posted eight.

The final three goals were scored in the third period. Davis Borozinskis gave the Nanooks the win in the third with a pair of goals. His first goal came 3:10 into the third while on the power play. He redirected a Nathan Rickey shot from the point near the slot and beat BC netminder Louka Cloutier. Rylen Roersma earned the secondary assist as the Nanooks took a 2-1 lead. They extended that lead to 3-1 5:50 later. With exactly 11:00 remaining in the third, Borozinskis scored the eventual game-winner on a breakaway after intercepting the puck in the neutral zone. The unassisted goal was his second of the night and second point of the season.

BC did pull back to within one with 6:02 remaining in the third. Dean Letourneau scored on the power play, making it 3-2, but after the goal, the Nanooks withstood the final pushes for the upset victory.
