Nanooks Women’s Basketball Unveils 2026-27 Schedule

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Nanooks are set to play 17 home games at the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium, and travel to Hawaii in November for games at Hawaii Hilo, Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade.

This season will feature fan-favorite theme nights, such as Jersey Jam and Pajama Night on Nov. 6 and 7 vs. Pacific Union, Festive Sweater Night on Dec. 18 vs. Missouri S&T, Elementary Day on Jan. 9 vs. Central Washington, Indigenous Appreciation Day on Jan. 23 vs. Seattle Pacific, Go Pink with the 'Nooks on Feb. 11 vs. Western Oregon, 80s Night on Feb. 25 vs. Western Washington and Senior Day on Feb. 27 vs. Simon Fraser.

"We're really excited to get this season going," said head coach Michael Ricks. "Playing eight home games before Christmas gives us an opportunity to build momentum in front of our fans. The trip to Hawaii will be a special experience for our team and a chance to grow together early in the season. It's a schedule that challenges us in the right ways, and we believe it will prepare us well for conference play."

The Nanooks open their season at home with two games against the Pacific Union Pioneers on Nov. 6 and 7, tipping off at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively. Alaska then heads south for three games in Hawaii, starting with a game against Hawaii Hilo on Tuesday, Nov. 10, before taking on Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade on Friday, Nov. 13, and Saturday, Nov. 14, respectively. They return to action with another midweek contest on Wednesday, Nov. 18, facing off against the Stanton University Elks in a preview of the opening game of the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational, which also features the Elks and Nanooks two days later at 3 p.m. The Blue and Gold close out their home tournament on Sunday, Nov. 22, vs. Northwest University, with tipoff set for 1 p.m.

The Blue and Gold are off the following weekend as they prepare for the start of GNAC play, which kicks off with two road games on Dec. 3 at Simon Fraser and Dec. 5 at Western Washington. Following their trip to the Pacific Northwest, the Nanooks head back to Fairbanks for three more games before the end of 2026. The 'Nooks square off against Northwest Indian College in a two-game series on Monday, Dec. 14, and Tuesday, Dec. 15, and welcome Missouri S&T to the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium on Friday, Dec. 18, in their final non-conference game of the season. All three home games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The Nanooks begin the new year in Anchorage, where they take on their in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. They return home the following week for games against Northwest Nazarene on Jan. 7 and Central Washington on Jan. 9. After two road games at Saint Martin's (Jan. 14) and Western Oregon (Jan. 16), the 'Nooks are home for three straight, beginning with games against Montana State Billings (Jan. 21) and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 23), before welcoming the UAA Seawolves to the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium for a rivalry matchup on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.

After their game vs. the Seawolves, the Nanooks return to road action vs. Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively. Alaska is then back in Fairbanks for a two-game homestand vs. Western Oregon (Feb. 11) and Saint Martin's (Feb. 13), before playing their final road games of the regular season the following week at Seattle Pacific (Feb. 18) and Montana State Billings (Feb. 20). The 'Nooks conclude the 2026-27 regular season at home, welcoming Western Washington on Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., before taking on Simon Fraser on Feb. 27, at 3 p.m.
