Skiing Heads to Steamboat Springs for Colorado Invitational This Weekend

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Nanooks Nordic skiing team remains in Colorado this week for another set of races, this time participating in the Colorado Invitational at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs, Colo. The 'Nooks will ski in the 20k freestyle mass start on Friday, Feb. 13, starting at 8 a.m. AKST, and the 7.5k classic interval start on Saturday, Feb. 14, starting at 7:30 a.m. AKST.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks were in Frisco, Colo, last week for the Denver Invitational at the Frisco Nordic Center, where they placed fifth as a team in the Nordic standings with 226 points. They began the invite with the 10k classic mass start races on Saturday, Feb. 7, with Cole Flowers (7th, 25:49.0) and Gabriele Rigaudo (9th, 25:54.7) notching top-10 finishes. The 'Nooks added two more top-10 results on Sunday, Feb. 8, in the 7.5k Freestyle Individual Start, as Rigaudo (19:11.8) and Philipp Moosmayer (19:13.3) placed sixth and seventh in the men's race. The men ended the invitational third among Nordic squads with 139 points.

Piper Sears led the way for the women in the classic race, posting a 30:48.3 to place 17th. Kolibri Drobish followed by leading the way in the freestyle, crossing the line in 23:48.8 to take 19th. The women ended the weekend in sixth with 87 points.

'Nooks in the Olympics
Current Nanook Rosie Fordham, along with former 'Nooks Kendall Kramer and Mariel Pulles, all participated in the 10k freestyle interval start on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games. Fordham led the way, finishing 33rd with a time of 25:17.8, Kramer placed 38th with a time of 25:34.9, and Pulles followed in 50th with a 26:05.8. RMISA Nordic Standings
The Nanooks currently sit sixth in the RMISA Nordic standings after the first three invites, totaling 671 points. The men have notched 392 points, which is good for fifth in the RMISA Nordic standings, while the women's 279 points put them sixth. Below are the full Nordic standings.

What's to Come
The 'Nooks are off next week as they prepare for the RMISA Championships, which are set to take place on Feb. 27-28, in Bozeman, Mont. The race disciplines and distances will be the same as the Colorado Invitational, with the teams beginning the Regional Championships with the 20k Freestyle Mass Start and concluding with the 7.5k Classic Individual Start.
