FAIRBANKS - Alaska Nanooks Sports Information Director Nathan Pearsall has been elected to the Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) Board and will serve a three-year term as the West Region Representative. Pearsall, who will begin his first term on the board, joins 13 other school and conference athletic communicators alongside members from College Sports Communicators (CSC) and the NCAA Division II.

"I'm honored and thankful for the trust my colleagues have placed in me," said Pearsall. "I've spent my entire career in the West Region, beginning as an intern, and the people here have played a huge role in my development as a communications professional. I'm excited to serve the region, strengthen the connections we've built, and help continue the outstanding work being done by athletic communicators across the West and nationwide."

Pearsall has served as the Sports Information Director for the Alaska Nanooks since 2019, joining the department after graduating from Saint Martin's University (GNAC, NCAA Division II) in Lacey, Wash., in May 2019. There, he served as a Sports Information Intern for the 2018-19 season, primarily serving as the baseball media contact. In addition, he assisted with basketball coverage and GNAC Championships postseason coverage.Ā

Since joining the Alaska Nanooks in 2019, Pearsall has led the department's communications strategy while serving as the primary media contact for the University's NCAA Division I hockey program and multiple NCAA Division II sports. He oversees media relations, statistical operations, website management, digital storytelling, and game-day communications, while directing content across the department's social media platforms, AlaskaNanooks.com, and broadcast channels. In addition, he collaborates with University Relations, the department's marketing, ticketing, and external relations staff to enhance the visibility of Nanook Athletics, promote fan engagement, and support revenue-generating initiatives.

Throughout his tenure, Pearsall has expanded the department's digital and broadcast capabilities, overseeing the growth of the Alaska Nanooks' streaming operations and implementing the athletics department's video replay systems for volleyball and basketball. He also established the program's first full-time NCAA rifle streaming operation, coordinated enhancements to hockey broadcasts through partnerships with external production teams and national media outlets, andĀ managed live event production and game operations across multiple sports. Beyond day-to-day communications, Pearsall has led several department-wide initiatives, including assisting with the coordination of the Alaska Nanooks' feature with Everything College Hockey and chairing the committee that reintroduced the Nanook Hall of Fame following its post-pandemic hiatus.

A committed leader within the athletic communications profession, Pearsall has been actively involved with College Sports Communicators at both the regional and national levels. During the 2024-25 academic year, he served as chair of the D2CSC West Region Women's Basketball Committee, earning a national ranking vote while overseeing the regional selection process. He has also served as a regional voting member for the D2CSC Men's and Women's Basketball West Region pollsĀ and chaired the D2CCA Volleyball West All-Region voting.Ā
