Women’s Hoops Set For Games at Western Washington and Simon Fraser

FAIRBANKS The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team remains on the road this week for two games at Western Washington and Simon Fraser. They face off against the Vikings on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. AKST, before taking on the Red Leafs on Saturday, Jan. 17, at noon AKST.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks were in Anchorage for their lone game last week, taking on the Seawolves on Saturday, Jan. 10. The Nanooks trailed 12-10 at the end of one, but were outscored 21-7 in the second quarter, and could not overcome the deficit, eventually falling by a final of 76-41. Tamai Mancuso led the way with 13 points for the Nanooks, going 6-12 from the field, while Jazlynn Novelli recorded a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, going 6-16 from the field.

  • Senior forward Olivia Hodges currently leads the team in scoring, posting 16.9 points per game on a 52.2% field goal percentage, which is good for fifth and second in the GNAC, respectively. She is also the GNAC's leading rebounder, grabbing 12.4 boards per game, which puts her second in Division II.
  • The Vikings are averaging 10.3 more rebounds per game than their opposition, putting them first in the GNAC and 15th in DII in rebound margin.
