FAIRBANKS - Head coach Frank Ostanik and the Alaska Nanooks have released the 2025-26 men's basketball schedule. This season features 13 regular season games at the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium and an additional 15 games on the road, including two tournaments in Anchorage before the start of GNAC play.
This season includes fan-favorite theme nights, including Halloween Night (Oct. 31) vs. the Seattle Mountaineers, Sports Jersey Night (Nov. 5) and UAF Night (Nov. 6) vs. Pacific Union, Books from the 'Nooks (Dec. 12) and Toy Drive (Dec. 13) vs. West Coast Baptist, Indigenous Appreciation (Jan. 24) vs. Seattle Pacific, Elementary Night (Feb. 5) vs. Northwest Nazarene, Go Pink with the 'Nooks (Feb. 26) vs. Saint Martin's and Senior Day (Feb. 28) vs. Western Oregon. The Nanooks will also hold their Pack the Patty Night on Jan. 17 vs. Alaska Anchorage, with the goal of 1,000 people in the Patty Center. Bring all your friends and white out the Seawolves! "We are very excited about this year's schedule," said Ostanik. "I love that we have the opportunity to play so many games within the state, both at home and in two separate tournaments in Anchorage, which will allow the fans, players and coaches from across Alaska to see firsthand the direction our program is headed. Of course, it will also be nice to get to Hawaii as well before Christmas."
The Blue & Gold will host its Alumni Game on Oct. 25, welcoming previous Nanooks back to the Alaska Airlines Gymnasium for a scrimmage. They play in two more home scrimmages on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 vs. the Seattle Mountaineers before beginning the regular season on Nov. 5-6 with two games vs. Pacific Union. Their first road test comes the following weekend when they travel to Anchorage for the PacWest/GNAC Challenge. Alaska takes on Chaminade on Nov. 15 and wraps up the weekend vs. Hawaii Pacific the following day. The 'Nooks play two more games in Anchorage on Nov. 28-29, taking on Westmont and Cal Poly Humboldt in the UAA Tournament over Thanksgiving weekend.
GNAC play kicks off on Dec. 4 with a trip to Western Oregon, followed by a contest at Saint Martin's two days later. The Nanooks return to Fairbanks the following weekend for a two-game series against West Coast Baptist on Dec. 12 and 13. These are their last home games of 2025, with the squad heading to Hawaii for a pair of games against West Virginia State and Hawaii Pacific on Dec. 19-20 to conclude the 2025 portion of their schedule.
The 'Nooks kick off the new year back in the Patty Center on Jan. 1 with a GNAC showdown against Western Washington and take on Simon Fraser two days later, before traveling to Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene for two road games on Jan. 8 and 10. The following week sees the Nanooks welcome their in-state rivals, Alaska Anchorage, to town for a single game on Saturday, Jan. 17. They stay at the Patty Center for two games the following week against Montana State Billings (Jan. 22) and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 24), concluding the first half of GNAC play. On Jan. 29, Alaska hits the road, making the trip down to Burnaby, B.C., for a Thursday contest against Simon Fraser. That Saturday, they head over to Western Washington for another road matchup.
As the calendar flips to February, the 'Nooks will make their way back to the Interior, welcoming Northwest Nazarene (Feb. 5) and Central Washington (Feb. 7) for a pair of home games. Following the homestand, the Blue & Gold will not return home for two weeks, traveling south to Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 14 to take on the Seawolves. Their last two regular season road contests are set for Feb. 19 and 21 when they visit Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings and they conclude the regular season at home the following week against Saint Martin's (Feb. 26) and Western Oregon (Feb. 28).
