FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program announced another addition today with the signing of Sophia Lachenmayer, a 5-8 guard out of Chatfield Senior High School in Littleton, Colo.

"We're thrilled to welcome Sophia to the Nanook family," said head coach Michael Ricks. "She's a 5-8 guard who can stretch the floor from well beyond the arc. Her passion for the game and relentless work ethic will make her a dynamic weapon in our system. We're excited to see the impact she'll have on both ends of the floor."

Lachenmayer averaged five points and 3.1 rebounds with the Chargers, shooting 24% from three-point range at Chatfield. She also earned Jeffco 6A All-Conference Second Team honors in the 2022-23 season.

"I'm so excited to officially be a part of the University of Alaska Women's Basketball team this season!" said Lachenmayer. "Grateful for the opportunity, ready to work hard, and can't wait to see what we accomplish together. Let's go Nanooks!"

Additional signings for the women's basketball team will be announced throughout the coming weeks.
