Last Time Out
The 'Nooks suffered a pair of losses last week, falling to Northwest Nazarene 80-68 on Thursday and dropping a Saturday contest against Central Washington, 81-70.
The Nanooks began the game against the Nighthawks strong, opening up a 12-2 lead 2:23 into the game, with Jayda Van Dyke leading the way with five points. The Nighthawks scored the following six points of the contest to cut Alaska's lead to four, but Destiny Reimers helped the 'Nooks pull away, scoring seven of their final 11 points in the opening quarter to take a 23-13 lead. However, Alaska surrendered the lead by halftime, trailing 41-38 at the break. The Nanooks would tie the game at 44 but would not regain the lead for the rest of the contest. Reimers posted team highs in points and rebounds, finishing with 26 and 11, respectively, to give her the double-double. She went 11-21 from the floor and 3-6 from three while tying for the team lead in steals (3) and blocks (1). Miranda Lomax was the other Nanook to finish in double-figure scoring, tallying 11 points on 4-8 shooting. She connected on two of her five three-point attempts and dished out four assists. Van Dyke led the team with five assists while picking up seven points. Alaska shot 45% from the floor and 33.3% from three and was outrebounded 41 to 33.
Tristian Martin had a career game against the Wildcats, posting a career-high 18 points. She went 6-10 from the floor and 3-4 from three while knocking down each of her three free throws. She added three rebounds and a steal. Lomax scored 16 points and tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Taylor Pilot was the final Nanook to finish with double-digit points, posting 10 points. She led the team with three assists, tied for the team lead with five rebounds and collected a steal. Alaska shot 35% from the floor and 14.3% from three while going 18-23 from the free throw line.

The Seawolves enter the contest ranked No. 25 in both the WBCA coaches' and D2CSC media voting. They sit atop the GNAC standings, with their only GNAC loss coming on Jan. 25 against Montana State Billings (70-55). They lead Division II in scoring margin (31.8), steals per game (18.2) and turnover margin (12.95).
They are led by junior guard Elaina Mack, whose 13.1 points per game rank 14th in the GNAC. She is connecting on 2.68 three-pointers per game on a 39.3% three-point percentage, ranking 21st and 29th in DII, respectively. Senior guard Emilia Long leads the GNAC in assists per game (4.6) and steals per game (4.59), the latter of which ranks first in the nation.
