MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The Nanooks swimming team concluded the 2025 PCSC Championships on Saturday, competing in their final five events. They ended the day with two individual podium finishes to help earn fifth place in the championships with a total of 909.5 points over the four days.
The first final saw the 'Nooks take part in the 1650-yard freestyle. Tori Shoemaker kicked things off with a second-place finish in the event, securing the placement with a 17:17.73. That time was not only a personal best, but was also good for an NCAA "B" cut. The performance earned Alaska 28 points. Payton Wojciechowicz followed by placing ninth with a time of 17:49.38, and Kylee Carter (20:05.02) picked up a 26th-place result.
Up next was the 100-yard freestyle, where Janci Pangburn led the way, finishing in 51.78 to take fourth place and grab 26 points. Sam Bristor tied with UC Santa Cruz's Tereza Shea for 11th place, as she swam to a time of 52.40. Jordan O'Connor followed in 13th with a 52.58.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables looked to build off her victory in the 100-yard backstroke yesterday, swimming in the 200-yard backstroke. The graduate student secured another podium finish, placing second and recording a personal-best time of 2:02.63, which ranks second in program history. That result earned 28 points and notched another NCAA "B" cut. O'Connor took 10th in the event, posting a 2:04.66.
Dorka Dancsok and Cosima Schmiedel took ninth and 13th, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke. Dancsok finished with a time of 2:20.42 in the B-Final, while Schmiedel recorded a 2:26.61.
The day concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Pangburn, O'Connor, Bristor and Fletcher-Stables finished the race in 3:28.64, which was good for a top-three placement. They picked up 54 more points for the Nanooks.
Azusa Pacific grabbed the top spot with 1,328 points while Cal State East Bay (1,325.5 points) and UC Santa Cruz (1,035.5 points) rounded out the top three.
The 'Nooks now await to see if they will send anyone to the NCAA Championships, which will be held on March 12-15 in Indianapolis, Ind.
