Nanooks Prepare for 2025 NCAA West Regional Championships in Monmouth, Ore.

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Nanooks cross country teams prepare for the 2025 NCAA West Regional Championships at the Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Ore. on the campus of Western Oregon.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks are coming off of the 2025 GNAC Championships. Both teams claimed eighth place at the conference championships with the men's team posting 193 points and the women's team finished with 199 points. In the women's race, the Nanooks were led by Lucca Duke, who finished eighth overall in 21:40.1, good for a GNAC All-Conference finish. Following Duke was Tabitha Williams in 20th. Rory Claussen (62nd), Riga Grubis (63rd), and Madison Schuh (64th) rounded out the scoring racers for Alaska. Sarah Baum (74th), Teegan Silva (75th), and Devyn Townsend (82nd) were the final racing finishers for the Nanooks at the GNAC Championships. 

In the men's championship, the Nanooks were led by Dexter Delaney who also claimed an eighth-place finish, good for the first All-Conference finish by the Nanooks men's team since the start of the GNAC. He also claimed the GNAC Freshman of the Year honor, the first end-of-year honor won by the Nanooks men's team since 2001. Ian Baker followed in 39th place, with Nick Iverson (50th), Finn Morley (59th), and Blake Hanley (64th) rounding out the scorers for the men's team. Clem Taylor-Roth (65th), Ned Peters (69th), and Brady Benedict (71st) were the final racers for Alaska. 

This Year's Racers
The Nanooks will have seven racers on both squads this year at the NCAA West Region Championships. On the men's side, the Nanooks will have Dexter Delaney, Ian Baker, Blake Hanley, Nick Iverson, Finn Morley, Clem Taylor-Roth, and Ned Peters racing. In the womens' race, the Nanooks will have Lucca Duke, Tabitha Williams, Riga Grubis, Teegan Silva, Madison Schuh, Rory Claussen, and Jasmin Holst racing.

  • The men's team took 19th at last season's NCAA Regionals, finishing with 553 points. The women's team placed fourth with 154 points, paving their way to the NCAA Championships. 
  • The men have two racers competing again after last season. Finn Morley took 120th last year and Clem Taylor-Roth took 126th last season. 
  • On the women's side, Tabitha Williams placed 25th, earning All-West Region honors last season. Lucca Duke earned 77 points for the Nanooks; she was the last scorer for the 'Nooks last season.
  • Teegan Silva took 99th and Riga Grubis took 181st.
  • This is the first time the Nanooks have raced at the Ash Creek Preserve since the 2023 NCAA DII West Regional Championships when the women placed fifth place with 135 points and the men's team placed 22nd with 546 points.
