Nanooks Wrap Up Regular Season at Lewis Crossover

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Nanooks cross country teams competed at the 2026 Lewis Crossover in Illinois on Saturday morning. The men's team raced first in an 8k race and the women's team raced second in a 6k race. 

In the men's race, the Nanooks placed 25th with 697 points. Alaska was one of six teams from the GNAC; Western Washington won the team results with 114 points. Western Oregon placed eighth with 214 points, Alaska Anchorage took 11th with 308 points, Northwest Nazarene took 18th with 462 points, and Simon Fraser took 24th with 677 points. 

Nick Iverson was the top finisher for the men's team. He placed 111th, running the 8k in 26:00.1. Ian Baker followed in second with a 26:34.5, good for 152nd place. Aidan Niedbalski, Brady Benedict, and Ned Peters were the final scorers for the Nanooks men's team. Niedbalski was close behind Baker, finishing 162nd with a time of 26:42.9. Benedict was the final Nanooks racer in the top 200, placing 198th with a 27:13.1 finishing time. Peters was the final scorer, placing 209th and running the 8k in 27:26.0. Blake Hanley and Mats Langenkamp also raced for the men's team. Hanley took 232nd with a time of 27:53.5 and Langenkamp took 258th with a time of 28:58.6.

In the women's race, the Nanooks took 19th with 481 points. Once again, Alaska was one of six GNAC teams racing. Western Washington placed fifth with 171 points, Central Washington followed in sixth with 176 points. Western Oregon took 12th with 313 points, Northwest Nazarene took 15th with 358, and Simon Fraser took 16th with 410 points. 

The women's team had two in the top 52 with Tabitha Williams leading the way, placing 31st with a finishing time of 22:41.4. Freshman Iris Haas followed close behind the senior, finishing 52nd with a time of 23:09.4. Mila Moseley had a strong run as the freshman finished 137th with a time of 24:33.0. Rory Claussen followed in 158th and Sadie Johnson rounded out the scoring with a 176th place finish. Claussen raced in 24:56.1 and Johnson posted a time of 25:16.2. Madison Schuh, Emma Niedbalski, Devyn Townsend, and Olivia Manley also raced for the 'Nooks.

Schuh placed 197th, finishing the 6k in 25:59.0. Niedbalski finished 213th with a time of 26:37.2, Townsend placed 221st with a time of 27:17.0, and Manley rounded out the racers for Alaska, taking 226th with a time of 27:49.4.

What's Next
The Nanooks will be off for nearly a month. Their next race will be the start of the postseason with the GNAC Championships on Nov. 7.
