FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks Women's Basketball program and head coach Amy Donovan have announced additional signings for the 2024-25 season. The list includes three guards and two forwards.
Starting off the list of introductions are our three new guards.
Taylor Pilot | PG | 5-5 | Fresno, Calif. | Cal State Stanislaus (CCAA)
Pilot, a 5-5 point guard, joins the Nanooks after playing three seasons at Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, Calif. During her career with the Warriors, Pilot averaged 25.7 minutes while putting up 7.7 points, 2.9 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. After a breakout season in 2021-22 that saw her post a career-best 10.7 points per game in 17 appearances, Pilot was named to the All-CCAA team. From Jan. 20 - Feb. 17, she posted 10+ points in seven of eight games, scoring 21 in a contest vs. San Francisco State. During 2023-24, Pilot notched seven double-digit point outings, scoring a season-high 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting against GNAC member Simon Fraser.
Donovan's Thoughts
"I can't wait to bring Taylor into our squad! Not only is she a great player, she's also a phenomenal student and person. She's going to add depth to our point guard position, and I expect to see her really thrive here at UAF!"
Miranda Lomax | PG | 5-5 | Cathlamet, Wash. | Concordia University Irvine (PacWest)
Lomax, a 5-5 point guard, heads North to Fairbanks after two seasons with CUI. She played in a total of 25 contests for the Golden Eagles, averaging 5.8 minutes and 1.9 points per game. After shooting 27.3% from the field in her first season, Lomax knocked down 16-of-39 field goals during her sophomore campaign for a field goal percentage of 41%. She picked up eight assists, ten rebounds and four forced turnovers in her 111 minutes of game time during 2023-24.
Donovan's Thoughts
"I can't wait to introduce Miranda to Nanook Nation! She's a point guard who can create for herself as well as for her teammates. Her experience at the collegiate level will be beneficial for our squad and will add a lot of depth at our primary ball-handling spot."
Emily Freeman | G | 5-6 | San Juan Capistrano, Calif. | Irvine Valley College (Orange Empire)
Freeman, a 5-6 guard, comes to Alaska after two seasons with Irvine Valley College in Irvine, Calif. At IVC, Freeman played in and started 59 games, averaging 28.9 minutes with 9.2 points, 2.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. She posted a 37.2 field goal percentage and shot 24.1% from distance. During her two-year stint with the Lasers, Freeman notched 24 games of 10+ points, posting 20+ points on three occasions. She tallied a career-high 21 points in the penultimate game of the 2022-23 season, scoring 21 against Mt. San Jacinto in a 59-52 win. During the contest, Freeman shot 7-of-13 from three while grabbing two rebounds and dishing out an assist. She scored 20 points the following season in a win vs. El Camino, going 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-10 from deep. Freeman also collected five assists and two steals in the game.
Donovan's Thoughts
"We are fired up to add Emily to the Nanook family! Emily is a competitor who can flat-out shoot the ball. On top of that, she's going to add positively to our team culture and locker room!"
Next up, we will introduce the two new members of our frontcourt.
Bobbi Clark | F | 6-0 | Portland, Ore. | Park University Gilbert (GSAC)
Clark, a 6-0 forward, joins the squad after spending the previous season with Park University Gilbert in Gilbert, Ariz. With the Buccaneers, Clark made 20 appearances and one start, posting 4.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and one assist in 12.3 minutes per game during 2023-24. With the Knights, she appeared in 40 games and made 15 starts, averaging 3.6 points, 0.8 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game. In 2022-23, Clark started in 15 of 19 contests, posting 5.4 points per game on 41.7% shooting. She shot 38.5% from beyond the arc, knocking down 5-of-13 three-pointers.
Donovan's Thoughts
"Welcome, Bobbi to Nanook Nation! From the very start of our recruiting process, it was very clear that Bobbi is a competitor at heart. She's going to be a forward who can stretch the floor with her shooting ability while adding size for us in the lineup."
Amelia Brady | C | 6-4 | West Jordan, Utah. | Dominican (CA) (PacWest)
Brady, a 6-4 center, rounds out the list, having played at the Dominican University of California in San Rafael, Calif. during the 2022-23 season. Brady played in 18 games with the Penguins, making five starts while averaging 3.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game. She posted a 36.1% field goal percentage while recording 14 blocks and two steals. She notched her first double-double in her third career game against Cal St. Monterey Bay, scoring 12 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Later in the season, she posted her second 10+ point outing, scoring a career-high 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and forcing five turnovers against Chaminade.
Donovan's Thoughts
"Amelia is a big-time addition to our squad! Her size and athleticism will be huge for us on the defensive end, and she'll be a match-up problem for other GNAC programs. Welcome, Amelia!"
