MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The Nanooks are in seventh-place at the 2024 PCSC Championships following the first three days. They enter the fourth and final day of the Championships with 381 points.
Thursday Recap
On Thursday, the Nanooks earned points with finals appearances in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM and 50-yard freestyle.Â
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Nanooks team of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Lainey Lioi,
Adeline Berry and
Dorka Dancsok earned 46 points for Alaska, taking seventh-place with a finishing time of 1:38.42. They finished less than a half second behind the sixth-place team and finished only three seconds behind the winning team from UCSC who posted a winning time of 1:35.25.
Payton Wojciechowicz led the Nanooks in the 500-yard freestyle finals, posting a 13th-place finish in the B-Final. She finished with a time of 5:08.77, earning 14 points for the Nanooks.Â
Tori Shoemaker followed right behind her teammate, finishing in 14th-place for 13 team points. She finished in 5:08.83, only .06 behind Wojciechowicz. The final Nanooks racer in the 500-yard freestyle final was
Naomi Burgan, taking 23rd-place with a 5:17.83, earning one point for Alaska.Â
The 200-yard IM was the second-to-last event of day two.
Dorka Dancsok just missed a top-five finish, taking sixth-place in the A-Final. She finished in 2:08.85, grabbing 24 points for the 'Nooks. She finished just over four seconds behind the winning time of 2:04.42. In the final event, the 50-yard freestyle,
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables was the lone-racer. She finished 20th-overall, racing to a time of 24.67 and earning the final five points of the day for the Nanooks.Â
Friday Recap
On Friday, the Nanooks earned points with finals appearances in the 100-yard backstroke, the 100-yard butterfly, the 400-yard IM and the 400-yard medley relay.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables grabbed a huge first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. After posting a prelims time of 56.58, she bested that time by over a second and picked up the overall win with a 55.17. Not only did she best her prelims time by a second, but she grabbed the win over the second-place finisher by over a second. Fletcher-Stables led from the get-go, posting a split time of 26.47 and 28.70. The victory earned 32 points for the Nanooks swim team.Â
The next Nanooks racer in a finals race was
Adeline Berry. She cracked the top-20 with a 20th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a finishing time of 59.13. She bested her prelims time by just under a second (59.90) and earned five points for the team. Dancsok picked up a top-five finish for the Nanooks, posting a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard IM. The finish was posted alongside a six-second improvement from the prelims (4:37.99). Her 4:31.32 put her in the top-five and earned Alaska 26 points.Â
Naomi Burgan followed with a top-10 finish of her own, taking 10th with a time of 4:49.23 and grabbing 17 points for the 'Nooks. She too improved from the prelims, taking two seconds off her initial 4:41.41 time. The final finals race for Alaska came in the 400-medley relay. The team of Fletcher-Stables, Dancsok, Berry and Lioi took fourth-place with a time of 3:53.40 - this finish earned 52 points for Alaska and gave them 381 points and a seventh-place slot after three days at conference championships.Â
