TACOMA, Wash. - The Nanooks swim team ended the first day of the Logger Invitational in first place, tallying 351 points. They lead Simon Fraser, who sits in second with 337 heading into day two.
The day began with the relay team of Ali Pecore, Jordan O'Connor, Sam Bristor and Janci Pangburn taking second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as their finals time of 1:34.68 set a team record for the event. Charlotte Fletcher-Stables followed by finishing first in the A-Final for the 50-yard backstroke, posting a 26.19 to finish in front of teammate O'Connor, who took second with 26.64. Pangburn and Eva Markovic took fifth and sixth in the event. Pecore was Alaska's top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle, placing fifth in the A-Final in 5:10.07. Tori Shoemaker and Payton Wojciechowicz followed in sixth and seventh place, while Naomi Burgan picked up a ninth-place finish in the B-Final.
The next event for the Nanooks saw Dorka Dancsok finish first in the 200-yard IM A-Final, posting a 2:06.70. Cosima Schmiedel took third and Charisma Watkins placed fifth to round things out for Alaska in the event. In the 50-yard freestyle, Pangburn took third in the A-Final with a 23.85, finishing .15 seconds in front of her teammate O'Connor in fourth. Bristor and Pecore placed seventh and eighth, respectively, and Fletcher-Stables and Markovic took 14th and 16th in the 50 freestyle B-Final. The 'Nooks wrapped up the day with the 400-yard medley relay, which saw the team of Fletcher-Stables, Dancsok, Schmiedel and Pangburn place second in 3:49.10. Fletcher-Stables hit an NCAA B Cut on her lead-off leg in the backstroke.
