FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks celebrated four seniors in their final home and regular-season meet at the Patty Center Pool. They fell to Western Colorado 134-71.
The Nanooks earned the first win of the day in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Dorka Dancsok,
Adeline Berry and
Lainey Lioi posted a winning time of 1:51.72 for 11 points. WCU took second and third. The second event was the 1000-yard freestyle. Alaska was led by
Tori Shoemaker and
Payton Wojciechowicz. They took third and fourth and earned five total points for the Nanooks; Shoemaker posted a time of 11:14.78 and Wojciechowicz finished in 11:28.76.
Meah McCallum was the final Nanook in the 1000 free, she took sixth with a time of 12:44.22.Â
Dorka Dancsok took second in the 200-yard freestyle in the third event. The 200 free was as close as it could be one through three as the winner posted a 2:00.08. Dancsok followed with a 2:00.32 finish, beating her seed time of 2:00.82 and beating out the third place finisher by just under a half second as WCU took third with a time of 2:00.81. Fletcher-Stables was the other Nanooks racer in the 200 free, taking sixth with a time of 2:03.58 and earning an additional point for the Nanooks.
Lainey Lioi posted another second-place finish for the Nanooks in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 26.70 and earning four points for the Nanooks.
Adeline Berry followed in fourth with a 27.22. In the 400-yard IM,
Naomi Burgan and
Shannon McCallum raced for Alaska. Burgan took second with a time of 4:50.41 and McCallum took fifth with a finishing time of 5:11.57. The 200-yard butterfly saw
Mesa Morand lead the 'Nooks. She posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 2:27.55. Berry followed behind in seventh with a time of 2:28.75.Â
Lioi returned to the pool and grabbed another second-place finish in the seventh event, the 100-yard freestyle. She finished in 57.64 to lead the Nanooks.
Kaidence Sampsel took sixth in the event with a time of 1:02.94.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables picked up an individual win in the 200-yard backstroke, winning by nearly six full seconds. She posted a winning time of 2:09.73.
Shannon McCallum was the other Nanooks racer in the event and finished seventh with a 2:29.22.Â
Three Nanooks competed in the 500-yard freestyle and Burgan led the way with a second-place finish. She finished in 5:28.96.
Payton Wojciechowicz finished fourth with a time of 5:41.97 and
Mesa Moran took fifth with a 5:44.15.Â
The final win of the morning for the Nanooks came from
Dorka Dancsok in the 200-yard breaststroke. She posted a 2:28.89 to win by over five seconds.
Kylee Carter rounded out the standings with a seventh-place finish and 3:05.58 finishing time, beating her seed time of 3:06.07. The final event of the morning was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Nanooks took second but gave it a strong sprint at the end as their anchor shaved into the WCU lead. Ultimately, WCU won it with a time of 1:42.27 and the Nanooks followed in second at 1:42.83. The leading team was made up of
Lainey Lioi,
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Naomi Burgan and
Dorka Dancsok. The second relay team for Alaska finished in fourth with a time of 1:50.16.
