FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks swim team fell to the Western Colorado Mountaineers at home by the score 120-85.
These two teams meet again tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. as the Nanooks celebrate senior day.
Alaska kicked off the day with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Dorka Dancsok,
Adeline Berry and
Lainey Lioi. They grabbed a big win, taking first by nearly seven seconds. The win earned Alaska 11 points. In the second event,
Payton Wojciechowicz took fourth to lead the Nanooks in the 1650-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 18:46.58.
Kylee Carter finished in sixth with a 21:27.91. In the 200-yard freestyle,
Naomi Burgan grabbed a big win for the Nanooks with a 2:01.09 and earned nine points for Alaska.
Adeline Berry took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.74.
In the fifth event of the night,
Dorka Dancsok grabbed a win in the 200-yard IM posting a time of 2:07.73 grabbing nine points for the Nanooks. The Nanooks took second in the sixth and seventh events of the evening in the 100-yard butterfly and freestyle respectively. Berry took second in the butterfly with a time of 1:02.60.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables' time of 55.41 was enough for second in the 100-yard freestyle. Fletcher-Stables followed her second place finish with a first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.84. In the ninth event,
Naomi Burgan took third to lead the Nanooks in the 500-yard freestyle.
In the 10th event Dancsok led the way for the Nanooks picking up nine points in her first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, she finished with a time of 1:07.05. In the final event of the day the team of
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables, Lioi Lainey,
Naomi Burgan and
Dorka Dancsok took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing .48 seconds behind the first place finished.
"Despite the fact that the team is tired and overwhelmed with so many meets this month, a lot of them pulled out some great races tonight. There were a lot of smaller details of their races that we were really proud of. We are excited to compete again tomorrow and see what the girls can do," said head coach
