LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Nanooks swim team finished day three at the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships with finals appearances in the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM and the 400-yard medley relay. After three days, the 'Nooks currently sit in ninth-place with 299 team points and look to make a splash on the final day of conference championships tomorrow morning.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Adeline Berry was the only Nanooks swimmer to qualify for the finals. Overall, she took 20th-place in the C-Final, finishing in 59.48 after posting a time of 59.74 in the 100-yard butterfly prelims. Berry's finish earned the Nanooks six team points.
Mesa Moran finished 30th after the prelims in the 100 fly.
Naomi Burgan used a prelims time of 4:38.86 in the 400-yard IM to qualify for the A-Final. In the finals, Burgan took eighth-place, finishing the 400 IM in 4:45.11 and earning the 'Nooks 22 team points.
Sophia Ruppert qualified for the B-Final using a prelims time of 4:40.48 to finish 11th-place in the prelims before climbing to a 10th-place finish in the finals. Ruppert posted a time of 4:38.24 to grab 20 team points for Alaska. Three other 'Nooks qualified for the 400-yard IM C-Finals:
Camille Dayton,
Shannon McCallum and
Caroline McCormick.
Dayton led the way for the Nanooks in the C-Final, finishing 18th-overall with a time of 4:42.99, nearly five seconds better than her prelims time of 4:47.17. Dayton's finish earned Alaska nine points.
Shannon McCallum cracked the top-20 with a 20th-place finish and finals time of 4:45.39 after a prelims time of 4:50.12. This earned the Nanooks five points. McCormick was the final Nanook to finish in the 400-yard IM C-Final, finishing 23rd with a time of 4:47.51, besting her prelims time of 4:50.92 and earning three points for the 'Nooks. The final Nanooks to appear in a final on day three was the 400-yard medley relay team made up of
Lainey Lioi,
Ali Pecore, McCallum and Ruppert. The relay team finished the finals in ninth-place, posting a time of 4:04.65 for 42 team points.
Kyleigh McArthur finished 32nd in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims and
Lainey Lioi finished 26th in the 100-yard backstroke prelims.
Alaska ends their trip to Los Angeles, Calif. tomorrow with day four of the PCSC Championships. On the final day, the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle relay and 1650-yard freestyle will be swam. Finals will begin at 4:05 p.m. AKT following a PCSC senior recognition starting at 3:00 p.m.
