TACOMA, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks swim team currently sits in second-place after two days of competition at the Logger Invitational, hosted by the University of Puget Sound. The Nanooks posted a day one score of 204.5 to trail only Simon Fraser's 329.5. On day two, the Nanooks moved up to 437.5. Simon Fraser is still in first-place after two days with a score of 753.5.
Day One Recap
On day one of the Logger Invitational, the Nanooks posted nine lifetime best times and 20 season-best times and had a great showing in the pool. The first event of the day was the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Nanooks team of
Lainey Lioi,
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables,
Adeline Berry and
Dorka Dancsok posted a time of 1:38.49 to take second-place. Their time was a four-second drop from their previous season-best. The other 200-yard freestyle relay team took eighth posting a finishing time of 1:43.19, improving on their seeding time of 1:49.63. In the next event, the 50-yard backstroke, Fletcher-Stables posted a first-place finish in the A - Final. She set a new lifetime best time of 26.28, besting her previous best time of 26.67. She grabbed the win by nearly a full second as second-place came in at 27.28. Also in the 50-yard backstroke,
Lainey Lioi took ninth-place, racing in the B - Final, finishing with a time of 28.73.
The third event of the day was the 50-yard backstroke preliminaries. Fletcher-Stables finished fourth with a time of 27.39.
Lainey Lioi took ninth with a prelim time of 28.96. The next final was the 500-yard freestyle.
Naomi Burgan led the three Nanooks who were in the A-Final. She grabbed a fifth-place finish with a time of 5:11.40 in the prelim before posting a final time of 5:13.19. Her 5:11.40 time set a new lifetime best, beating her previous best time of 5:18.28.
Payton Wojciechowicz took seventh with a prelims time of 5:12.80 before posting a finals time of 5:16.29. Finally,
Tori Shoemaker posted a 5:12.66 prelim time and 5:21.62 in the finals to take eighth in the A-Final.
Mesa Moran took 10th-place, racing in the B-Final, and posted a time of 5:21.94 in the finals, besting her previous lifetime best time by over six seconds. Her previous lifetime best was 5:27.98. The next event saw the Nanooks claim an NCAA B Cut time in the 200-yard IM.
Dorka Dancsok won the event with a time of 2:04.12, besting her previous lifetime best of 2:05.13. With her time in the win, she posted an NCAA B Cut time.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables returned to the A-Final in the 50-yard freestyle and took fifth-place behind a time of 24.51. That time gave her a new lifetime best, beating her previous best of 25.22.
Lainey Lioi was the next finisher in the B-Final, taking 12th-overall with a time of 25.38.
Adeline Berry followed her teammate in 14th with a finals time of 25.67. The final Naook racer to finish in the 50-yard freestyle finals was
Kaidence Sampsel. She too finished with a new lifetime best, finishing in 26.31, beating her previous best by nearly a second (27.20).
In the final event of the day, the Nanooks posted a 10-second improvement in the 400-yard medley relay, taking their season-best time from 4:01.64 to 3:51.23. Alaska led the head for about 325 yards before the Simon Fraser team grabbed first by 1.34 seconds. The Nanooks took second - this team was made up of

Dorka Dancsok,
Adeline Berry and
Lainey Lioi. The other Nanooks relay team took ninth and finished in 4:17.20, taking five seconds off of their seed time of 4:22.44.

Day Two Recap
Day two of the Logger Invitational saw the Nanooks post another eight lifetime best times and 19 season-best times. The first event of the day was the 50-yard breaststroke.
Tori Shoemaker led the way for Alaska with a third-place finish, racing in the A-Final and posting a time of 32.46. That time broke her previous lifetime best of 34.61. She was the only Nanook in the final for the 50-yard breaststroke.
Dorka Dancsok and
Naomi Burgan took first and second, respectively, in the second event of the day, the 400-yard IM. Dancsok took first with a time of 4:25.75 after a prelim time of 4:32.75 and Burgan took second by 11 seconds, following with a finishing time of 4:36.68. Burgan took off four seconds from her prelim time of 4:40.50. Both of them posted new lifetime bests in the event. Burgan beat her previous best time by two seconds (4:38.86) and Dancsok is only .37 seconds off from the school record in the 400 IM. The third event for Alaska was the 100-yard butterfly.
Adeline Berry led the Nanooks with a third-place finish and time of 58.78. This bested her prelim time of 59.26 - she was the only Nanooks racer in the A-Final.
Mesa Moran followed in 12th-place, finishing with a finals time of 1:02.93.Â
Payton Wojciechowicz and
Kaidence Sampsel were the two Nanooks to race in the 200-yard freestyle finals. Wojciechowicz led the way, taking ninth-place with a finals time of 1:59.23 - besting her prelim time of 2:00.76. Sampsel posted a finals time of 2:05.91 and a prelim time of 2:05.90 to take 15th-place. Her prelim time set a new lifetime best in the event, breaking her previous best of 2:06.35. In the next event, Dancsok returned to the first-place podium. She claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke, winning with a time of 1:04.63 - setting a new lifetime best by .32 seconds and putting herself only .99 behind the school record.
Naomi Burgan followed in ninth-place, posting a finishing time of 1:11.16 - this set a new liftetime best. her previous was 1:12.26.
Charlotte Fletcher-Stables picked up another Nanooks victory, this time in the 100-yard backstroke. She posted a winning time of 57.31, winning by .36 of a second.
Lainey Lioi also made the finals, taking 11th-place with a finishing time of 1:01.30. This bested her former best time of 1:01.40. The final relay of the day was the 800-yard freestyle relay and a team of Fletcher-Stables, Wojciechowicz, Burgan and Dancsok grabbed a second-place finish. They improved on their seed time (7:55.59) and posted a finishing time of 7:51.26 to earn 34 team points. A second Alaska relay team took sixth with a time of 8:10.90, earning 26 points.
