Alaska is fresh off of their regular-season openers at the DII Canadian Tip-Off Classic. They went 0-3 in their opening weekend with losses to Texas A&M Int'l on Nov. 3, Univ. of Texas at Tyler on Nov. 4 and a close battle loss to Colorado Mesa on Nov. 5.Â

- Through three games, Emma McKenney is leading the way offensively for Alaska. She's averaging 10.3 points per game. Destiny Reimers follows right behind McKenney with 9.7 points per game.
- Ellen Silva is shooting 42.9% from the floor to lead the way for the Nanooks. Silva averaged 6.7 points per game over the opening weekend while also grabbing 9.0 rebounds per game, a high for the Nanooks.Â

Cross Conference Challenge
Alaska will face Biola and Concordia Irvine at the BU-hosted Cross Conference Challenge; Biola fell to Pepperdine 56-50 in an exhibition game and they fell to Long Beach State 82-62 in an exhibition game. The matchup with the 'Nooks will be their season-opener. CUI will face Cal State San Bernardino in their season-opener on Nov. 10 before facing Alaska on Saturday.Â
DII Canadian All-Tournament Team
Emma McKenney was named to the DII Canadian Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team on Tuesday, Nov. 7. McKenney posted seven points in game one, nine in game two and 15 in game three to lead the Nanooks.Â

Looking Ahead
After this weekend, the Nanooks will stay on the road and play Division I opponent Southern Utah on Wednesday, Nov. 15. After SUU, the 'Nooks will play two games against Westminster on Nov. 17-18 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alaska will host the 2023 Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational on Nov. 24-25 in Fairbanks. They'll welcome Cal State San Bernardino, Covenant College and Multnomah. Following the Invitational, they'll hit the road to open up GNAC play on Nov. 30 at SPU and Dec. 2 at MSUB.
Signing Day
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team announced the signing of McKayla Hart on Signing Day 2023. Hart is a center who hails from Midvale, Idaho.
"We're so excited to add McKayla to the Nanook family!" Head coach Amy Donovan said on signing day, "From the start of the recruiting process it was evident that she is our kind of player. She works hard, is a great student, and we can't wait to see the impact she has on the court over the next four years. Her length and athleticism will make her an invaluable addition to our front court lineup."Â
Hart, a 6'2" center from Midvale, Idaho, will join the Nanooks after graduating from Midvale High School. She became an Idaho State Champion for the 2022-23 season while earning Idaho All-State 1A Division II honors after averaging 10.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. She intends on majoring in Kinesiology upon arrival in Fairbanks next fall.
