The Nanooks are coming off of a two-game slide at home to Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington. On Jan. 12, the 'Nooks took the Nighthawks to OT but fell 90-88. Alaska fell down early before pulling close at the half. A strong second half and fourth quarter made it a 78-78 game heading to the extra period where NNU grabbed the two-point win.
Emma McKenney had a solid night, posting 31 points on 9-15 shooting and 5-11 from three. She hit all eight free-throw attempts and grabbed a board and steal in the loss.
Sam Tolliver ended the night with 19 points while
Destiny Reimers added 14 and 13 rebounds for a double-double and
Kayla Johnson ended with 10.
On night two, the Nanooks were beat by Central Washington 73-56. CWU pulled away early but a big fourth quarter from the 'Nooks pulled them within 17 but the 21-11 fourth quarter scoring advantage was too little, too late.
Kayla Johnson posted a team-high 13 points and
Ellen Silva scored 10 while grabbing eight rebounds.
