Bryan Nguyen Joins Nanooks Men's Basketball as Third Signee

Point guard averaged 8.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game at San Jose City College.

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team will welcome Bryan Nguyen in 2022-23 as he inks his name as the third signee of the incoming recruiting class. Nguyen, who hails from Milpitas, Calif., will join the 'Nooks from San Jose City College. 

"Bryan does a great job offensively and defensively," claimed head coach Greg Sparling, "On the offensive end he is capable of making shots and more importantly, he distributes the basketball to his team at a high rate. In addition, he plays defense extremely hard and pressures the basketball. He is a great young man that we are looking forward to having here at the university next season. Coach Aye did a fabulous job mentoring and coaching Bryan during his time at SJCC."

Nguyen spent two seasons at San Jose City College. During his career, he averaged 7.3 points per game while shooting 39.1% from the field, 39.6% from deep and 72% from the free-throw line. In his final season, 2021-22, Nguyen averaged 8.4 points per game, shooting 38.9 from the field and 39.3 from deep. He added depth on both sides of the ball, tallying 149 assists for an average of 5.3 per game and 72 steals for an average of 2.6 per game during his sophomore season. He also grabbed 77 rebounds for an average of 2.8 per game. He helped lead SJCC to a 22-7, 8-4 CCCAA record during the 2021-22 season including a trip to the second round of the Regional Tournament.
