PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced their 2021-22 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team on Tuesday, March 1.
The Nanooks women's basketball team was represented by freshman guard Pearle Green on Honorable Mention. Green, who hails from Galena, Alaska, was the top-scorer for the 'Nooks, averaging 14.8 points per game while also ending the regular-season eighth in the GNAC in points per game. In her second-to-last game of the season, Green posted a career-high 29 points against Northwest Nazarene, her fifth 20+ point game of the year and 13th double-digit game of the year.
"Pearle earned every bit of this honor," said head coach Jessie Craig, "Not only is she the top shooter in the conference, making more threes per game than any other play in the conference, but she is also shifty on her drives and a quick defender."
Green, on both ends of the ball, was one of the most consistent players for Alaska in 2021-22. She shot 39% from the field, 33.5% from three and added a 78.9% free-throw percentage. On the defensive end, Green tallied 30 steals, averaging 1.7 per game. She grabbed 48 rebounds for an average of 2.7 per game, dished 43 assists and blocked two shots.
Craig praised Green's competitiveness all season, "Across the board, Pearle is a fearless competitor. I'm so proud of her hard work and dedication this season and I'm excited for her future."
The Nanooks head into the GNAC Women's Basketball Championships as the #10-seed and will face the #7-seeded Seattle Pacific on Wednesday, March 2 at 1:15 p.m. AKT in Seattle, Wash. at Seattle Pacific's Brougham Pavilion.
